‘This is it. Reality dawns… three-dimensional reality!’ Director, David Pountney, can hardly contain his excitement when getting to grips with the actual set of IN PARENTESIS in week one of rehearsals.

Assisted by Emma Jones, Librettist and Associate Director, David Pountney and the rest of his team discover Robert Innes Hopkins’s set, which evokes the oppression of the World War I trenches.  The fundamental challenge, as for every director, says Pountney, is to ‘work out how the space works in the time that the music allows’.  Follow the progress of the first week of rehearsals. ‘I’m having a ball’, says Pountney. ‘It’s terrific’.
