Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden is home to two of the world’s great artistic companies, The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet performing with the Orchestra of Royal Opera House. From here live performances are given almost every night of the week with 12 productions each year relayed around the world through ROH Live Cinema, with a wide range of activity streamed and shared online and through social channels.

The Royal Opera, under the artistic direction of Antonio Pappano, Music Director, and Oliver Mears, Director of Opera, presents a wide ranging programme including new commissions such as George Benjamin’s Written on Skin and Lessons in Love and Violence, Harrison Birtwistle’s The Minotaur and Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Anna Nicole and Coraline, as well as revivals and new productions of some of the key works in the opera repertory.

Under the directorship of Kevin O’Hare, The Royal Ballet is renowned for presenting the great heritage works as well as continually innovating and pushing the boundaries of ballet and dance. New commissions from Resident Choreographer Wayne McGregor, Artistic Associate Christopher Wheeldon and Artist in Residence Liam Scarlett, as well as guest choreographers Crystal Pite, Arthur Pita, Hofesh Shechter and Twyla Tharp, are adding a new energy and dimension alongside the great masterpieces by Founder Choreographer Frederick Ashton and Director and Principal Choreographer Kenneth MacMillan.

Royal Opera House also plays a leading role in the training of apprentices, emerging professional artistic talent, a national and online learning and participation programme and cultural regeneration.
